Wednesday's Story
This flower was popping up all over…
As I photographed it at the San Antonio Botanical Garden. Looking at it now, it feels as if it’s bursting out of my screen; as if I could reach in and pick it. Though I can’t actually pick it, I will take an extra moment to admire it and download it (see below) to use as my digital wallpaper, to bring something bright and wonderful into my week. I invite you to join me in taking a moment for yourself to feel the joy that flowers can bring.

Crested (rather than bearded) white-flowered iris with yellow veins on the crests and falls. Leaves are composed in 12” broad fans, ribbed and glossy dark green. Blooms appear in early summer on branched stems bearing 2-3 flat flowers. Clubs are dense and spread slowly. Attracts hummingbirds and butterflies.
general care
Grow in moist, humus-rich soil in full sun or partial shade. Can be grown in dry shade or damp roofs if drainage is good.
