Wednesday's Flower
Wednesday's Story
Happy New Year!
What will your year look like?
Will you pause more to breathe and enjoy?
Will you look for moments that take your breath away?
Are you hoping to live your best year ever?!?
Let’s start if off with some fireworks, earthly ones that is, to celebrate being alive and all of the wonderful things to come.
points of interest
This chrysanthemum is a “spider” type; flower heads are fully double with long, tubular ray florets, white/blush on the interior to orchid-pink on the exterior. Often with a hook at the end, florets drape gracefully in full bloom. Leaves are aromatic and dark green. Blooms in late summer to early fall.
general care
Grow in full sun, in fertile, well-drained soil. Encourage heavier flowering and neat habit by pinching back. This is referred to as disbudding. Maximum size will only be reached if flower buds are restricted, one to a stem, by removing all but the largest terminal center bud when buds are very small.
