Wednesday's Flower

Wednesday's Story
I love to come in close…
When shooting a bloom to see the details I would miss otherwise; to understand a flower on a more intimate level. But sometimes by pulling back my lens, I find my gaze is effortlessly drawn. With the focal point in the center and the soft blurred background, it makes it very easy to rest my eyes upon it. I hope you, too, will find a moment to breathe, slow down, and create some peace in your day as you gaze at this orchid-like autumnal flower.
points of interest
An upright, slowly spreading clump, with flowers from July through frost. Each orchid-like, star-shaped flower has white petals with purple speckles and protruding, speckled, axils. Best suited for a moist woodland garden or shady border.
general care
Grow in moist but well-drained, humus-rich soil in deep or partial shade.
