Wednesday's Flower

Wednesday's Story
The Berkshire Botanical Garden…
Is colorful and lush, and filled with a variety of blooms, bounty and peacefulness; an escape from the every day. The great thing about photography and the internet is that we can still “visit” these places virtually, and though it may not be the exact same experience, it can give moments of reflection and peace. I hope you find that with this flower and in your day…
points of interest
Bushy annual with slightly sticky matte leaves. Branched flower stalks bear short-lived single or multiple violet inflorescences. Flower eyes have a smudge of creamy white. Broad, with unequal lobes, the flowers resemble a larger version of forget-me-nots. Useful in containers or intermixed into a perennial flower border. Self-sows.
general care
Grow as annual outdoors in part or full sun, in well-drained, fertile soil. Water moderately in summer and apply a low nitrogen fertilizer monthly. Pinch growing tips to encourage bushiness.
