Wednesday's Flower

Wednesday's Story
A U.F.O..?
It looks as if it has come from another world and is twirling around to make a landing. But it’s exotic, fragrant, and purple, so it must not be an Unidentified Flying Object. Instead I’ll call it a Unique Floral Oasis.

points of interest
‘Purple Haze’ is a cross between P. caerulea x P. amethystina, with highly fragrant and unusual blooms from summer to early autumn. Its exotic flowers have a wide tubular base, 10 flat, reflexed, purple-mauve tepals, and a central stalk bearing the ovary and stamens surrounded by a ray of fleshy filaments with dark magenta, white and purple rings. Passion flowers are tendril climbers and produce yellow, edible fruits.
general care
Easy to grow in moderately fertile, moist, well-drained soil in full sun or part shade. Provide trellis, archway or fence for support.
