Wednesday's Story
Snowdrop and Windflower…
These two words make up this flower’s name: Snowdrop for its pure, white petals, and how they blanket the ground like a lovely snowfall (but thankfully not). Windflower as it stands on a very slender stem and when the slightest of breezes come its way, it sways so delicately and yet, stands strong.
points of interest
In late spring, white, semi-pendant, shallow, cup-shaped flowers with 5 petals surrounding a central boss of golden yellow stamens appear singly. Mid green leaves are basal and along the stem, rounded to oval and deeply 5-lobed. Spreads rapidly by root suckers.
general care
Plant in moist, but well-drained, humus-rich soil in sun to partial shade. Drier conditions are tolerated when dormant in summer.
