Wednesday's Flower
Wednesday's Story
Standing there in the garden, I experienced…
A miracle in front of me…a flower in bloom. Daily, we’re each experiencing miracles happening all around us, but we’ve become less aware as we’ve experienced them before. Does that make them any less of a miracle? Also, I think it’s about a loss of perspective and having too many distractions in our lives… so, I hope today you will take the time to stop and experience the many miracles happening around you…

Cafe au lait is a large dahlia (Large A Size) with flat florets, regularly arranged, classifying it in the ‘Decorative’ category. The blooms are blush pink to creamy beige and usually darker towards the center, fading to an elegant, pale shade towards the outside. Bushy plant with strong branching, hollow stems and pinnate leaves. Flowers continuously from midsummer to frost, suitable for a cutting garden or flower border and attract bees and butterflies.
general care
Plant in full sun in humus-rich, moist, well-drained soil. Lift tubers 2 weeks after frost in cooler zones. Use high nitrogen fertilizer weekly in early summer and switch to a high potassium fertilizer from midsummer to autumn. Deadhead to encourage strong branches and continual bloom. May need staking.
