Forsythia

Wednesday's Story

It sings with color…

It sings with color, spring is here!
It sings with color, optimism and hope.
It sings with color, vibrancy of life.
It sings with color, Hallelujah!
It sings with color, and brings joy to my heart!

points of interest

Upright and arching shrub with oval, mid-green leaves. In spring, bears clear, golden-yellow, 4-petaled, salver form flowers with narrow tubes. Grow in a shrub border, on a bank, against a wall, or for hedging. Often forsythia buds freeze before blooming, but this variety can handle temps to minus 30 degrees.

general care

Grow in moderately fertile, moist, but well-drained soil in full sun or light, dappled shade. Prune heavily to rejuvenate.

friday’s flower fact
