Yellow petals slowly unfold… From the center of its waxy, lime-green exterior, and every petal looks as if it was hand dipped to create its rose-pink edges. I follow the edges to see how each one breaks at the top into a ‘V’ making me think of the peace or victory sign. These details envelop me and draw me in closer to take in all of its beauty, and then I notice its gentle strength. Find ...

I have a certain pride… When sharing flowers that I’ve nurtured in my own garden or grown from seeds; a pride that I’m sure isn’t warranted, but one I’m feeling about today’s flower. This flower’s light blue petals are stunning. Its unexpected center is brown with fuzzy yellow stamen. How joyful it is to grow flowers and to share them with you. Find this floral photograph and other...

Hey, can you see me..? I’m the tight raspberry bud behind the flower looking to get all of your attention. Sure, the bloom’s magenta color is bold and vibrant. Its ruffled petals, that look like they are unfurling right before your eyes, are captivating. Its vibrant pinkish-red petals, that attract hummingbirds to the unexpected yellow center anther, are joyous. Well, I’m going to be that a...

These petals are superior… Commented Karen, as she selected a bouquet from her bucket at the Manchester Farmer’s Market. I love that she saw such detail in them. I love her passion for these beautiful petals, and her sharing her enthusiasm for them. I could see this intimate relationship she had with these flowers; how she nurtured them all summer long and now was waiting for the moment to sh...

It’s curious… At the Kew Royal Botanical Gardens in London, England, I came across this potted plant. Its gradated mauve to green bracts jut out under one another, creating a pinecone-like shape. At its end it produces a slender, light lavender flower. Such an unusual shape, and yet, such loveliness. Another wonder to experience. Find this flower and others in our floral print store.

A bit of a contradiction… I’m a pretty flower, but I have a pungent smell. I have hollow stalks, but stand strong in the wind. I’m edible, but have insect-repelling properties. I’m not only from the old world, but the new world, too. Find this flower and others in our floral print store.

A puzzling moment... Happened to me while shooting in our meadow. I had set up my tripod, mounted my camera, checked my settings, then looked through the viewfinder and focused on this bud of a flower. After taking my final shot I reviewed the last image on my monitor. Something changed! I found not a bud, but an open flower. Thinking I had moved the camera somehow, I flipped through all of the i...

I was surprised by the square shape… Of each bud and how they looked like teeny-tiny, little boxes; not a single one open. Each one of them seeming to be bursting at the seams, ready to explode like fireworks on the 4th of July. They radiate joy and a feeling of anticipation and excitement of opening a present or watching pyrotechnics. Find this flower and others in our floral print store.

For me there are many versions of… This flower’s story, as I have experienced it on numerous levels: admiring it from afar, planting it in my own garden, seeing it bloom summer after summer, photographing it in my studio, being mesmerized by its intricate details, being challenged shooting it outside as it easily sways in the wind. Each story brings a different perspective and joy. Find this...
