MY TWO CENTS
For happiness one needs security, but joy… There is so much truth in that we need security in order to have happiness. I can see where this quote could easily have come from the loss of her first child, Charles Augustus Lindbergh. I do appreciate the truth and optimism of this quote that joy can spring even in the most trying of times, as was no doubt her experience.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Anne Morrow Lindbergh (June 22, 1906-February 7, 2001) was an aviator and author of poetry and nonfiction. She received numerous awards for both her writing and her contributions to aviation. I have great admiration for her and her husband, Charles Lindbergh, as their first child was kidnapped and found dead two months later, and she continued on in life to still contribute so much after experiencing such a great loss.

I feel a personal connection to her even though I did not know her, but through her book Gift from the Sea I learned a lot about her and myself. It has been a long time since I have read her book and I’ll have to look to pick it up again. Have you ever read this book and if so, what was inspiring about it for you?
