FLOWER QUOTE: CREATIVITY LIES IN PARADOX Sep 09, 2019
Creativity lies in paradox

MY TWO CENTS
Creativity lies in paradox: serious art is born from serious play… This is something that Julia Cameron writes about in her book, The Artist’s Way, and the necessity to play in order to create. Often, I forget to play, but I’m glad to be reminded to take the time to do so along with nurturing myself. Then the real art will come.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Julia Cameron (b. March 4, 1948) is an American teacher, author, artist, poet, playwright, novelist, filmmaker, pigeon fancier, composer, and journalist. She is best known for her book, ‘The Artist’s Way’ (1992). Cameron has also written many other non-fiction works, short stories, and essays, as well as novels, plays, musicals, and screenplays.[1]

In 2012, I read her book with three other friends of mine. We would meet every couple of weeks to review the chapter we had read and our thoughts and progress. This is the book that helped to inspire Floating Petals. I’m very grateful to Julia Cameron for The Artist’s Way, and I can only imagine how many countless others are, too.
