MY TWO CENTS
Happiness held is the seed; Happiness shared is the flower… It’s exciting to hold a seed and think of the amazing metamorphosis it will undergo; imagining what that seed’s life will be from planting to germination to bud to the flower being in bloom. Once in bloom, I get excited about sharing that flower through my photography, and then cutting the flowers into lovely bouquets to give to others. There is great truth in his quote. Anything in life that has a beginning can bring joy, and there is even more happiness in sharing it.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
John Harrigan was born in Toledo, Ohio. His parents, Jack and Mary, had five sons and John was the middle child. Harrigan attended college with the help of a GI bill and graduated from Loyola University in Chicago. He then went on to get his masters from University of Chicago in International Relations. Harrigan was a Foreign Service Officer for the U.S. in served in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His next assignment was to go to Vietnam in 1966, and he declined that position. He went onto Georgetown University to get his Ph.D. in Political Science. Harrigan then went on to teach at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota. He served as Assistant Dean of Liberal Arts. He was able to retire in 2000 and get back into his love of writing fiction. Harrigan’s most popular book is The Patron Saint of Desperate Situations.
I was unable to confirm where Harrigan said this quote. I’m guessing that besides being an author of political books, he must also like to garden or enjoys flowers, as I don’t think this quote would have been apart of any of his political fiction books.
