MY TWO CENTS
Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive…While thinking about Valentine’s Day, I came across this quote and thought it was most appropriate for Monday with Valentine’s Day coming up. We all want love and compassion. Even though Valentine’s Day is quite commercialized and more focused on the love we share with our partner/family, I think we should all take more time to give love and compassion to those around us, especially those we don’t know so well.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I know of Dalai Lama and see him as a serene, humble and peaceful person, but I didn’t know much more until now. There have been fourteen Dalai Lamas. The name comes from dalai meaning “ocean” and lama (Tibetan work bla-ma) meaning “guru, teacher, mentor”. The Dalai Lama is a monk of Tibetan Buddhism of the “Yellow Hat” or Gelug school. The current and 14th Dalai Lama is Tenzin Gyatso. He came from a humble life and lived in a cowshed of his farmer’s family. He was enthroned November 17, 1950.
