MY TWO CENTS
And now we welcome the new year. Full of things that have never been… This quote comes from a letter the author wrote to his wife while in Capri and experiencing the excitement and chaos of the New Year being celebrated in the streets.

I’m not one to make New Year’s resolutions, but there is something very exciting about a new start and a new beginning; to think about all of the possibilities of all that could be. Wishing you a very happy New Year and looking forward to a great year to come!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I will admit that when I read this, Rainer Maria Rilke (December 4, 1875–December 29, 1926), I assumed it was a woman, but after researching, I found out that it was a man. Rilke’s full name was René Karl Wilhelm Johann Josef Maria Rilke and he was born in Austro-Hungarian Empire. He was a very well-known poet and novelist of his time, and especially so for his lyrical prose. With Rilke’s haunting and existential writings, he played a role in the transition from traditional to modernist writers. He wrote several collections of poetry and one novel, along with there being several volumes of correspondence.
