Living Plant Sculptures at the Montréal Botanical Garden - Blue Lotus

Many botanical gardens have special exhibits throughout the year, and the Montréal Botanical Garden has one spectacular exhibit called the “Living Plant Sculpture” that I had the opportunity to visit in 2013. Each sculpture is made completely out of plants.

Living Plant Sculpture - Montréal Botanical Garden - shepherd watching over the sheep

The shepherd watching over the sheep, and if you look closely you will see he is gently holding a small tree in his hand. I also love his beard made out of grass and the details of his buttons.

The sheep graze in the field as the shepherd watches over them. They look so lifelike.

Living Plant Sculpture - Montréal Botanical Garden - Water faucet made out of plants

I loved the creativity of the water faucet, so large and made out of plants with a glass water droplet ready fall.

Beautiful horse sculptures made out of wood and graze in a field of wild flowers.

A visit to the Montréal Botanical Garden - Living Plant Sculptures

To think of all of the time designing, planning and creating this show is a huge undertaking, and then to have to constantly be pruning and caring for it is a whole other aspect of creating something original and beautiful.

P.S. Looking forward to sharing the New York Botanical Garden Orchid Show coming this March.

The featured flower at the top of this blog post is a Blue Lotus (botanical name: Nymphaea nouchali), which I photographed during my visit at the Montréal Botanical Garden.

What botanical garden shows would you recommend to go and see?
